The base modules (B1-B6) equal the six ECPM Course modules which have been offered as a postgraduate University Professional course ever since 1991. The programme follows the IMI Pharmatrain syllabus which is built on the one from IFAPP, International Federation of Associations of Pharmaceutical Physicians and Royal College of Physicians in London. The ECPM Course comprises six modules spread over a two year period and provides a basic overview on the drug development process. The programme ends with a triple examination: a multiple choice questionnaire, viva voce and essay writing. The training programme of 24 days and a successful examination result in the 30 ECTS credits and a “University Professional in Pharmaceutical Medicine” title.
Learning outcomes of the Base ECPM Modules 1-6:
On successful completion of this course in pharmaceutical medicine students should be able to demonstrate an understanding / knowledge of the following:
- The principal steps in drug discovery
- Issues involved in the pharmaceutical, non-clinical and clinical development plan
- The regulation of medicines in the various global markets, including ethical and legal provisions
- The management o f drug safety issues pre-and post marketing authorisation
- The management of all lifecycle activities (regulatory and marketing) of a medicine
